As the proud representatives of Island potato growers, we’re dedicated to ensuring the long-term profitability of our industry. With one-quarter of Canada’s potatoes grown right here on PEI, our impact is immense, injecting over 1.3 billion dollars into the Island economy and employing approximately eight percent of the workforce.
As a Student Marketing Intern, you’ll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the heart of our local marketing efforts. Under the guidance of our experienced team, you’ll play a vital role in supporting local initiatives throughout the summer of 2024. From representing our brand at community festivals and summer events to coordinating the appearances of our beloved mascot, Tate, the role will provide a nice mixture of variety and experience. Perfect for anyone looking to pursue a career in marketing.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the coordination and execution of local PEI Sponsorships.
- Help represent the PEI Potatoes brand at community festivals, summer events and activities.
- Coordinate the event schedule for Potato Board mascot Tate and ensure he is available for summer events. This includes wearing or coordinating a person to wear Tate and ensuring transportation.
- Collect Social Media content while attending community events.
- Assist in office-based marketing administration.
- Assist with administrative tasks to backfill summer vacations.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Open to students aged 16-30, who must be returning to school in the fall.
- Must be registered as a full-time student in a secondary or post-secondary accredited academic institution.
- A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are mandatory. Access to a truck or SUV would be an asset.
- Experience working with Social Media platforms is an asset.
- Knowledge of farming and potato production would be considered an asset
- A self-starter who is highly energetic, outgoing and eager to interact with the community
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work independently but also with a team
- Be creative and quick-thinking
- Capability to travel locally to represent the PEI Potato Board at events
- Understand the importance of representing the PEI Potatoes Brand in a professional manner at all events.
This position with the PEI Potato Board will provide an hourly wage of $16.50 based on a 37.5-hour work week, including evenings and weekends.
